Just thought I'd share a photo from a bedroom I once did. We had a high window on the wall behind the bed (as well as a very large window on the wall to the right which you can't see). I hate putting beds in front of windows because I always think blinds and curtains are annoying behind the bed, but in this room there wasn't any choice.
The window already had cream Roman blinds with timber slats. I made and upholstered a headboard and stapled two strips of fabric onto it, before gluing a piece of dowel (which I had already stained) to cover the staples holding the fabric on. Then, I attached the same fabric to the blind using double sided tape.
When the blind was out, it hung just at the top of the headboard, making the whole thing look like a contemporary high headboard, but it could still be pulled up if you wanted to let in a little more light.
