Inspiration from Morocco

After talking about my travelling yesterday I went back and look at some of the photos from my most recent trip; to Morocco. Morocco is one of my favourite trips ever, and I was so enamoured with the friendly people, beautiful handicrafts (metal works, rug making, textiles, leather work, pottery etc) and incredibly diverse scenery and activities.

Here are just a few of my favourite design-related photos from the ones I took during the trip (totalling about 2,000!)...

Oh, and these are photos from a famous restaurant we ate at when visiting Essaouira on the coastline (an incredible city if anybody is thinking of going to Morocco). The restaurant is famous, not only for its food, but for it's ecclectic collection of original mid-century modern furniture. Apparently a lot of English and Europeans moved to Morocco in the 50s, 60s and 70s, bringing their furniture with them. I've heard it's actually pretty easy to hunt down pieces in garage sales!
