I have always grown up in Traditional Queenslanders, the local architecture which involves tongue and groove walls, wide verandahs, double hung windows and timber floors. My mother loves these traditional homes and has always filled our house with beautiful antique pieces. As a result, when I was growing up I always said I disliked these old traditional styles. But of course, she was right again and I've found a growing for this style as I get older. In my own home I still like to mix these pieces with some bright colours and modern furniture for contrast, but I still have a great appreciation for these timeless, elegant and tailored rooms.
