An industrious room...

Another style to add to my collection of moodboards on Pinterest is industrial. I love this style with it's raw honesty and historical influences. I think this style really came to the fore in the 90s and seems to be here to stay.

You often see elements of industrial style in coastal and country settings, but it is fun to see a room done in its entirety. Here are a few of my favourites at the moment...

Sofa Upholstery - What colour?

Dark charcoal grey or black with nailhead trim?

I have two rather sad sofas sitting at my house at the moment; both are waiting for a makeover. Apart from the lack of time, they haven't been re-finished because I'm being rather indecisive about the colours! 

One is a contemporary high armed sofa, with no back cushions and is currently navy. It was supposed to be going upstairs in the living room (hence the navy, black, grey and mustard colour scheme). But...

I bought another small sofa as well. It's slope armed with a smaller foot print and currently some kind of hideous diagonally striped, grandad's wooly cardigan style fabric. It will fit much better upstairs.

The result is that both now need upholstering and I have to choose the colours...

Light grey-brown?

White? (That's already a no - not with dogs inside!)

Black?

I like this dark greige colour on the armchair.

Light grey with contrast piping.

Black with white piping.

Beige - like this but maybe too light?

Oh, I would love stripes.

I think I'm leaning toward charcoal or navy upstairs (with mustard yellow and maybe some coral accents), and a browny-grey-greige colour for downstairs (with some orange accents).

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Feature Home: An incredible renovation

When I saw this post over at Desire to Inspire the other day it stopped me in my tracks. The interior of this home obviously had potential with its high ceilings, timber floors and enormous rooms, but it is still an incredible makeover.

This is the home of Kate from 'Eating the Daisies'. Not only does Kate have quite a funny blog, she obviously has beautiful taste. Kate said the project was a collaboration between architect, David Burton of Williams Burton, his associate Sophia Leopardi, and her builder, Rocky Cirroco.

Colour Palette: Black, White & Green

This photo popped up on my Pinterest page today and I was immediately struck by it. I love the combination of black, cream and liney-emerald green. And it does seem like the perfect colour combination for a stylish and dramatic room, does it not?
