Unfortunately, it was looking a little sad...
I was watching a movie and decided to try and clean it up. I didn't have a specialised product lying around, and I've decided to try and use natural cleaners as much as I can. Thinking about home remedies I googled how to clean tarnished brass. I found one technique using vinegar, salt and hot water.
Look at the result!
Want to know the technique?
- Add a half cup of white vinegar and a tablespoon of table salt to a sink or basin (deep enough to cover the item).
- Fill with hot tap water and let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Add some dishwashing detergent to a sponge and gently scrub with a circular motion.
- You can use a toothbrush to get into the small cracks, but you will need something with stiff bristles!
Now, I have a pretty tray for my coffee table...
Which I can have fun styling...
What do you think? Have any pretty brass pieces you need to re-discover? I'm already eyeing off some old brass candlesticks I have at the back of the cupboard!
