Feature Home: Modern Coastal in Victoria

Like many of you house-lovers out there I occasionally like to look through beautiful properties for sale for inspiration.

Now, if you're a serious house stalker you must follow Annie from the blog 'A View on Design'. But, I thought if I spotted anything that particularly caught my eye I would share it here for you all.

This home is a contemporary house available for sale right now in Portsea Victoria. Although it's contemporary, it doesn't feel minimal and has a coastal feel which I really like.

There isn't a clear view of the outside, but here is the pool (and tennis court!). I love the foliage growing in and around the pool; it feels like a resort.

Now, don't you love the pitched ceiling and white-washed floors here? It feels very relaxed but still modern. I also like the idea of that interesting gallery wall (although I probably would have gone with black and white photos for a simpler look).

What man wouldn't like this pool room? Notice the fantastic eclectic gallery wall as well - it works perfectly with the sloping ceilings.

I love the concept of using timber walls and the mirror over the sink is lovely for air and light, but a difficult space to do your makeup in without a mirror over the vanity? What do you think, is this practical?

A simple white kitchen feels almost outdoors thanks for the large windows on every surface.

Here is a feature I really love; the pergola style beams across the walkways allow a mass of foliage to grow above. The traditional brick path is contrasted against the charcoal grey modern finishes.

This is a simple bathroom and not too exciting and I'm surprised at the use of the timber floors. It is an example of a fully framed shower screen that doesn't look out of place, and a white one at that. Most clients I have automatically go for chrome, but I think with white walls, a white frame is much less obtrusive and creates a more seamless look.

More lovely ceilings, and I also love the industrial textured walls here. The pops of green really enliven the space and that framed bathing suit is gorgeous!

This is a cute scheme for a boy's room and I adore that framed flag. A fun idea for a nautical space. What about a series of signal flags which spell out their name?

Look at those windows! I'm not a huge fan of the lights here but their simplicity (and the simplicity of the furniture itself) does let the architecture take centre stage.

A contemporary fireplace in this living space, with the concrete walls again. Sectionals are fantastic for big family spaces, but is anyone else surprised by the fabric choice here? It's not offensive but reminds me of 80s and 90s sofas!

What do you think? With unlimited funds, would you buy this place, or do you prefer a different look?
