Five DIY projects to try

I have done a round-up of my favourite DIY projects before and thought I would highlight some new favourites. Knowing me, I will probably never get to try any of these but I love the creativity others have exhibited, and would love to see your results if you've tried anything similar!

Without further ado...

1. A painted dresser. Yes, this is actually a DIY. Does anything else think this is completely gorgeous? I love the contrast of the more masculine theme (race cars) with the feminine lines of the dresser. Painted by the incredible Lori (otherwise known as Drama Mama).

2. Upholstered ensemble (boxspring) bed. I'd been planning on sewing an elasticised skirt for my own bed, but this would be easier and more effective I think. Don't the finished beds look fantastic? Created by the Urban Nest.

3. Painted fans. I've often admired gorgeous vintage fans and thought about purchasing one for my study (which didn't have an air-conditioner). This seems like a great budget option - just paint a cheap one! It also has the advantage of letting you choose whatever crazy colour you feel like. Idea by Kate from Starr Family.

4. Scrabble art. I love playing scrabble and have often thought about making some scrabble tile art. Well, someone beat me to it! In particular, Jen from insideways beat me to it. Look at the great result...

5. 'Brass' animal ornaments. If you like the Hollywood Regency trend, or just have a thing for animals, you might like this fun project by Cassie from Hi Sugarplum. She wanted to interesting pieces for her bookshelf makeover and created them by spraypainting some plastic animals! Pretty clever, right?

Do you find any of these projects inspiring? Any you've tried yourself? Please share!
