A colour scheme with navy

One of my favourite neutrals is navy. Navy goes with everything (except maybe chocolate brown). It works beautifully with other cool tones, even better with contrasting colours, and looks amazing with neutrals. You really can't go wrong...grey, white, blush pink, orange, yellow, lilac, tan or red.

Some of the most classic schemes (and probably the most popular) is navy and orange or navy and yellow. Here are some of my new favourites...

There is a great collected, vintage vibe in this room by Emily Henderson. The blue linen tufted sofa looks great with the mustard yellow armchair, and wouldn't you like some windows like that in your living room?

Here is the classic combination...deepest navy with bold Hermes orange. Love this twine lattice bulletin board by Eddie Ross. This vignette also illustrates just how great navy and orange look with bright chrome!

While I'm not normally a fan of anything-but-white architraves (boring I know!) I do love the navy doors here with the yellow lattice fabric.

Navy walls are a bold choice but something becoming more and more popular recently. Love the collection of blue ginger jars, the walls of map prints (good DIY anyone?) and that pop of yellow from the pillows.

This is my favourite space from this roundup. A neutral, very classic room with touches of navy and soft buttery yellow. Note the framed butterflies on the wall, and the transition to the navy walls in the room over (a dressing room maybe?). In other news, I would really love a simple white modern four poster bed!

So, which do you prefer...yellow or orange? Any takers for other options? I'm quite fond of coral or pink with navy as well!

P.S. Please help me improve by filling out my mini-survey here. I would love your ideas!
