Trend to watch: Watercolour shades

While here in Oz we are heading into the cooler months, the north is well and truly looking for Spring weather. As a result, the interiors you're going to be seeing over the next few months will be a wash of palest watercolours.

We've seen this trend for pastels for months in fashion with the softest shades of blush and champagne. Now other shades are joining the pastel party including baby blue and all shades of watery green from mint to celery.

It's interiors turn to take on the trend. In Australia we are still seeing lots of bright colourblocking tones in stores and bright coral and aquas (we are always a little bit behind, aren't we?). I'm guessing by the time we arrive in our next warmer months we will be seeing even softer hues like these...

Some of these rooms are a little too soft and pale for me but I will certainly be thinking about incorporating a touch of pastel. Personally, I like to use pastels with stronger colours as well...blush pink or mint green with navy, coral with charcoal grey.

Oh, and that photo of the coral jeans with mint shoes? I bet that will be a huge colour scheme in the coming months (it's just a slightly new version of coral and aqua after all).

What do you think? Do you embrace pastels?
