A bright and colourful boys bedroom

My little brothers' bedrooms were looking rather drab when my parents moved into their new home last year and they asked me to come up with some ideas to help them re-decorate their rooms to make them a fun and imaginative area to play. The first one we worked on was Zaccy's room (soon to be 6).

Zaccy likes Dr Suess (as does our whole family - I grew up reading the Lorax) so although I didn't want a themed room we took inspiration from the bright colours and whimsical nature of Dr Suess.

I wanted the room to feel colourful (but not too designed) with lots of red, white, green, black, yellow and blue. They wanted to keep the existing wall colour (Dulux Hogs Bristle Half), the existing hardwood floors (as if I would change them!) and the current timber blinds. Here's the before (a little boring, yes?)...

The deal was they only wanted to spend $250 on accessories and decor, but would spend more on furniture or things that would last him a long time. I wanted to get artwork, a new rug and a little table and chairs at a minimum.

Here was some inspiration...
